NCTE offers a variety of publishing opportunities that are available to both members and nonmembers.
Submit a Journal Article
NCTE publishes ten professional journals, including at least one for each membership section. Volunteer editors ensure that the peer-reviewed content is of the highest quality and is relevant to the lives of NCTE members and subscribers. Because these journals are all published through different volunteer editors, the submission guidelines vary for each:
- College Composition and Communication (Kathleen Blake Yancey, editor)

- English Journal (Julie Gorlewski and David Gorlewski, coeditors)

- Research in the Teaching of English (Ellen Cushman and Mary Juzwik, coeditors)
- Talking Points (Sally Brown and Deborah MacPhee, coeditors)
- Teaching English in the Two-Year College (Jeff Sommers, editor)
- Voices from the Middle (Doug Fisher, Nancy Frey, and Diane Lapp, editors)

Contribute a "Portrait of Change"
about Your Team's Learning
The Literacy in Learning Exchange, the website of the National Center for Literacy Education (NCLE) is looking for stories -- "Portraits of Change" -- about the challenges and successes experienced by educators working together in collaborative learning teams.
These stories are intended to foster conversation and deeper learning among members of the NCLE community around these core beliefs:
- Literacy teaching and learning is everyone’s business—in and out of school, across grades, and across disciplines.
- Professional learning through collaboration with peers and around topics or questions that strengthen teaching and learning makes a difference.
- Conditions and structures such as time, resources, and culture are key drivers of successful change.
