Annual Convention Scholarship Information - National Council of Teachers of English

NCTE’s Annual Convention is our signature event and one that we hope all NCTE members will have an opportunity to attend. To facilitate greater accessibility to our convention, we will be accepting applications for scholarships to cover the cost of 2024 Annual Convention registration.

The application for 2024 scholarships will open this summer.

NCTE Annual Convention Scholarships

Purpose: To provide scholarships to cover the registration fee for NCTE’s Annual Convention for eligible NCTE members. (At this time, scholarships do not cover any other convention-related expenses.)

Frequency and Number of Awards: The number of available scholarships will depend on the total funds available each year. Recipients will be chosen by the convention program chair and a diverse group of advisors appointed by the chair. Executive Committee members; those who have received other scholarships, discounts, or awards from NCTE during the 2024 awards session; and educators whose institutions provide professional development funding are not eligible to apply. The full member registration fee amount will be covered for each recipient. Partial scholarships are not available at this time. (If you have already paid for registration and are eventually chosen to receive a scholarship, you will receive a refund.)

Eligibility: Open to members of the NCTE community to apply on their own behalf. Those living or working outside of the United States, or in a United States territory, are eligible to apply. Membership is required to receive the scholarship but is not required to apply.

Application Requirements: Applicants must fill out the form below in full.

Award Criteria:

  • NCTE membership is required to receive the scholarship.
  • Nominations on behalf of another person are not accepted.
  • Executive Committee members; those who have received other scholarships, discounts, or awards from NCTE during the 2024 awards session; and educators whose institutions provide professional development funding are not eligible to apply.
  • Session presenters are welcome to apply.

The application will be available in the summer of 2024.
