Here are some special initiatives that you could participate in:
African American Read-In -- Host a Read-In in your school, church, community, or place of business. Anywhere you can sit and read a book.
Advocacy Day/Month -- Join us for NCTE's Literacy Education Advocacy Day on Thursday, April 23, 2009, in DC. There are ways you can participate everyday in the month of April. Check out the calendar.
Action Center -- A few minutes of your time can make a difference. Email, call, or write your legislator and let them know how you feel about issues taking place locally, in your state and throughout the country.
National Day of Writing is scheduled for October 20, 2009. Information on this program is still in the planning stages.
