Call for Nominations for NCTE Section, CEE, and TYCA Offices - Previous Revision

Candidates needed for the 2010 ballots

Elementary Section:

  • six candidates (Elementary Section members) for the Elementary Section Steering Committee; three to be elected

  • six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2010-11 Elementary Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected

Middle Level Section:

  • four candidates (Middle Level Section members) for the Middle Level Section Steering Committee; two to be elected

  • six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2010-11 Middle Level Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected

Secondary Section:

  • four candidates (Secondary Section members) for the Secondary Section Steering Committee; two to be elected

  • six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2010-11 Secondary Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected

College Section:

  • two candidates (College Section members) for the College Section Steering Committee; one to be elected

  • six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2010-11 College Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected

Conference on English Education (CEE):
  • six candidates (NCTE/CEE members) for the CEE Executive Committee; three to be elected

  • eight candidates (NCTE/CEE members) for the 2010-11 CEE Nominating Committee; five to be elected

NOTE:  For lists of responsibilities and activities of each office listed above, visit the "Job Descriptions" area of the Elections Web site.

IT IS IMPORTANT to submit nominations by November 1, 2009, but nominations will also be accepted at the Annual Convention in Philadelphia.  Nominations can be submitted during the Annual Business Meeting on Friday, November 20, 2009, (Marriott, Grand Ballroom, Salon E), and at the open sessions of the Nominating Committees' meetings:

  • Saturday, November 21, 2009, Noon-12:45 p.m., Marriott, Grand Ballroom, Salon C

  • Sunday, November 22, 2009, 8:00-9:00 a.m., Marriott, Grand Ballroom, Salon F

NOTE:  Most nominating committees contact only those individuals who will be formally invited to run for office.  Results of the NCTE Section, and CEE Nominating Committees' deliberations are announced on the NCTE website and in the appropriate March and April journals.  If you wish to notify your nominees before then, you can get the final slate of candidates by contacting Linda Walters at NCTE Headquarters after February 1, 2010.

TO SUBMIT A NOMINATION:  Complete the nomination form and return it (with resumes, if desired) by November 1, 2009, to the  NCTE Elections Office (1111 W. Kenyon Road, Urbana, IL 61801; fax: 217-278-3632).
