Wondering if your computer has what it takes to participate in a NCTE virtual event including Web seminars, E-workshops, or virtual conferences? Maybe the computer is fine but you are worried a little about your own technical skill set. It's easier than you think.
Here are a few things you can check in advance to ensure you have a successful experience.
Step One: Check your computer system
NCTE virtual events use Java Based software called Elluminate Live!. You can check your computer system online by visiting www.elluminate.com/support.
Step Two: Check your audio
The audio for most NCTE virtual events are run through the computer rather than a phone line. You will need to be sure your computer is equipped with speakers and a microphone or a head set so you can hear and interact with the presenter. A microphone is highly recommended! However, there is a text chat area that can be used in place of a microphone.
Elluminate provides a Configuration Room that can be used to test your connection, settings, and configure your audio. Make sure you follow the prompts and complete steps one to three.
If you encounter any technical difficulties either while checking your computer or the day of the NCTE virtual event while setting up your computer, please contact the Elluminate support line anytime at 1-866-388-8674 or visit the online Elluminate Help Desk.
Step Three: Video Player Plug-In
In many NCTE virtual events we feature classroom videos of teachers and/or students. It is highly recommended your check your computer to determine if the Flash Player Plug-in is installed.
