Are you an English educator seeking new approaches to your undergraduate and graduate courses? The CoLEARN Writing Initiative, an online platform available through NCTE, can enrich your courses and provide resources for teacher candidates and practicing teachers to develop as writers and writing teachers. Join us in this web seminar to learn about opportunities, resources, and opportunities of the CoLEARN Writing Initiative.
In this interactive session, university English educators Cathy Fleischer and Doug Baker will introduce participants to the CoLEARN Writing Initiative, focusing on how they adapt it for undergraduate methods courses, graduate courses in literacy, and local National Writing Project site. In this hour you will learn about:
- Opportunities that CoLEARN offers for the classroom, including full texts of all NCTE journal articles, a variety of reading and writing invitations that lead to online discussion forums, and other NCTE resources available through CoLEARN
- Sample strategies for incorporating CoLEARN with teachers and teacher candidates
- Representative sequences of activities designed to examine writing pedagogy as writers, as teachers of writing, and as potential researchers
