CoLEARN Writing Initiative is a responsive, needs-based online program that lets you work through the research on effective classroom practice in a collegial and community-building approach.  CoLEARN will enable you to build a bridge between the research that supports student learning with the realities of the classroom.

Preservice and inservice teachers in undergraduate and graduate education courses can participate with classroom teachers and researchers in the CoLEARN Writing Initiative.  The program will complement methods courses by providing: 

• Access to over 2000 articles--a flexible coursepack experience
  
• Online discussions with teachers and students across the country, engaged in professional, reflective conversations
  
• Reading invitations and writing engagements as structured reflection activities
  
• An introduction to Teacher Research
  
• Content Leader: Cathy Fleischer--Co-Director, Eastern Michigan Writing Project, teacher-researcher and professor of English language and literature at Eastern Michigan University, co-editor for the English Education Journal.
