Jar of Tiny Stars, A: Poems by NCTE Award-Winning Poets
Editor(s): Bernice E. Cullinan

This book celebrates ten of the brightest "stars" in children's poetry—David McCord, Aileen Fisher, Karla Kuskin, Myra Cohn Livingston, Eve Merriam, John Ciardi, Lilian Moore, Arnold Adoff, Valerie Worth, and Barbara Esbensen—all of whom are recipients of NCTE's Award for Excellence in Poetry for Children. For each poet, editor Bernice Cullinan highlights five poems—poems that children across the country selected as their favorites. And whether they are about "pickety" fences, rabbits, or jam, all these poems are special because of their ability to make children laugh or tell a story. Cullinan also includes an "About the Poets" section that not only provides biographical information, but insight into each poet's writing as well.
