Study Guides for 12 Great Films CD-ROM
Author(s): William V. Costanzo

Looking for more ideas on how to teach film in the English classroom? These study guides originally appeared in the 1992 NCTE book Reading the Movies: Twelve Great Films on Video and How to Teach Them by William V. Costanzo. Costanzo has revised and updated the guides for this CD-ROM.

This CD-ROM makes an excellent supplement to Costanzo’s 2004 NCTE book Great Films and How to Teach Them. That book features study guides for fourteen different films (classic to contemporary); the first part of the book includes updated versions of chapters that appeared in Reading the Movies, plus several new chapters.

The 12 study guides on this CD-ROM cover the following films:

Awakenings (1990)
The Birds (1963)
Citizen Kane (1941)
Do the Right Thing (1989)
The Graduate (1967)
The Grapes of Wrath (1940)
Modern Times (1936)
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939)
On the Waterfront (1954)
Rebel without a Cause (1955)
Singin’ in the Rain (1952)
Sugar Cane Alley (1983)
