Wondering if your computer has what it takes to participate in a web seminar?

http://www.elluminate.com/Support/?id=62/Here are a few things you can check in advance to ensure you have a successful experience.

Step One:
NCTE Web seminars use a Java Based program called Blackboard Collaborate.   You can check your computer system online by visiting http://support.blackboardcollaborate.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=8336&task=knowledge&questionID=1279

Step Two:
The audio for NCTE Web seminars is run through the computer rather than a phone line. You will need to be sure your computer is equipped with speakers and a microphone or a head set so you can hear the presenter.  A microphone is recommended but not required.  There is a text chat area that can be used in place of a microphone.

Step Three:

Many NCTE Web seminars feature classroom videos of teachers and/or students.  It is highly recommended your check your computer to determine if the Flash Player Plug-in is installed

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blackboard provides a Configuration Room that can be used only to test your connection, settings, and configure your audio at any time.  Some schools have issues with firewalls and proxy servers.  Detailed information can be found on the Blackboard Collaborate Knowledge Base and FAQ's site.

Never participated in a virtual event before?  Want to get some practice with the tools prior to your Web seminar?  You can learn more about the audio and other features of Blackboard in this online orientation

If you encounter any technical difficulties either while checking your computer or the day of the Web seminar while setting up your computer, please contact the Blackboard Collaborative support line anytime at 1-877-382-2293 or visit the online Blackboard Collaborate Help Desk.
