The 2008 NCTE Website Redesign

Welcome to the new NCTE.org!

Over the last few years, NCTE staff has worked with the Writing in Digital Environments Research Center, outside contractors, focus groups, NCTE members, and website benchmarking in order to develop the features and functions of this website redesign.  Highlights include:

  • a new look and feel;
  • streamlined navigation;
  • commenting;
  • interactive polls;
  • connections with social networking sites;
  • dynamic lists of the most popular site articles;
  • greater accessibility for our site visitors;
  • and content created and posted by NCTE members.

Welcome to the new website!

I like the new website and greater access to info. A suggestion: Why can't a copy of the standards be sent to all members like the Council Chronicle, instead of asking us to download it? All members should have this in their hands to share with their departments.

The new website looks fabulous--more attractive than the one we had before. The colors are more appealing to me, but I still need to look at the content.

I'm sorry for your frustration in looking for the 2009 Affiliate forms. We're in the process of posting the 2009 annual report forms. Information on affiliate awards, membership in NCTE's 501(c)(3) tax exempt group, and cosponsored speakers may be found under the Resources for Leaders section on the left hand side of the page on the Affiliates page under the Constituent Groups section of the website. If you have questions, please write affsec@ncte.org and I'll be happy to respond.

As an affiliate leader, I am finding it difficult, if not impossible, to locate the submission dates and requirements for affiliate reports for 2009. I would suggest that you provide an easy to find and obvious link to that type of information, and also an explanation of the NCTE Affiliate Excellence Award criteria and submission forms--all in one place. The Constituent Groups link doesn't provide that--as far as I can see at this time.
