Volume 93 Number 1, September 2003

Issue theme: Talking Literature

When we think of “literature,” printed texts usually come to mind. But the power of story—the ability to introduce us to the wider world and help us make sense of it—is inherent in both written and oral language. In this issue of English Journal, learn how successful teachers get their students to talk about literature as well as to discuss the rich oral traditions that are part of literature.
