NCTE Resources to Support the Creation of Revised Writing Policies and Changes in the Instruction of Writing

NCTE Consultant
The NCTE Consulting Network began in response to the needs of student writers, so we have numerous consultants from K-16 who can work with your school or district and develop a school-wide writing plan.  The consultant can then make recommendations for support materials.

Materials for Professional Readings in a Study Group Model
From themed journals on writing, to NCTE books and distribution titles on writing, and now the recenlty launched Professional Communities at Work Toolkits,  NCTE has materials that span K-16 classrooms.  These materials may be a part of what the consultant recomends or NCTE can help you select collections, books, articles, lesson plans and other resources.

Online Database Access
A subscription to CoLearn gives you electronic access to all NCTE journal articles since 1997and access to key book chapters.  This vast resource can be utilized to search on specific writing topics and the full-text articles can become a part of a teaching team discussion.

Online Facilitated Learning (CoLearn Team or Individual)
The flexible, yet structured format of CoLearn allows participates to look at the instruction of writing, assessment of writing, or the role of the community in the process of writing.  CoLearn includes reading invitations and writing engagements allowing for discussion, growth, and reflection on the teaching of writing.  To learn more, visit the CoLearn Writing Initiative site.

Online Consultant Conversation
Within a few months of the onsite visit you can arrange for the consultant to answer your questions in an online environment.

If you are interested in discussing how NCTE can support professional development efforts in your school, including fees for these services, please contact the NCTE Professional Development Department.
