International Experiences

• M.C. spent a week in Waterford City in Ireland working with educators on the topic of text comprehension strategies. Many of the participants were working with students with disabilities and were interested in learning about differentiated literacy learning experiences for all children.

Education Specialist, ESCORT 

• Series of workshops on Text Comprehension Strategies for ELL teachers in Alabama and New York State.
• Conducted systemic, sustained and strategic professional development for literacy coaches in Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
• Model School Project in Florida and Puerto Rico.
• Literacy Coaching assignments in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey; designed professional development materials, provided technical assistance and ongoing training.
• Assisted in the development of Standards Implementation Guides for the South Carolina Department of Education.
• Co-authored a study guide on the National Reading Panel Report

Special Education Training Specialist, BOCES

• Designed, coordinated and conducted seminars and conferences for teachers, parents, administrators and agency personnel.
• Consultation and coaching for regular education staff on differentiating instruction.
• Consultation and coaching for special education teachers on content focused instruction.
• Professional development for members of the Committee on Special Education.
• Worked with 26 school districts to assess needs and implement and design of professional development plans.
