Improvisation as it is practiced at The Second City is a set of tools.  Improvisation builds skills in following directions, listening, focusing, oral communication, and teamwork–skills that are necessary for learning in all content areas.  Since the inception of the Improvisation in the Classroom Program at Second City, teachers have discovered exciting ways to include improvisation in the teaching of kids in language arts, social studies, science, and mathematics.  This book provides the educational groundwork for using improvisation for teaching and learning in the classroom, an explanation of improvisation exercises, and teacher developed lessons that incorporate improvisation.
