Lauren IngrahamLauren Ingraham is Associate Professor of English and Director of Composition at The University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, where she teaches writing workshops for pre-service teachers as well as courses in first-year composition, grant writing, composition theory and practice, and business writing. She enjoys working with middle school, high school, and college-based audiences on literacy-based curricular reform, literacy preparedness for college, integrating nonfiction reading and writing into the curriculum, reflective writing and portfolios, and writing teacher preparation. Her publications include articles or chapters in WPA: Writing Program Administration, Composition Studies, and The Ethics of Writing Instruction, among others. Her book Arguing in the Real World: A Multimedia Approach to Teaching and Learning Argument is forthcoming from Prentice Hall.

Presentation Topics
Lauren’s workshops are based on the premise that while she has expertise to offer, participants add a rich layer of knowledge and experience for everyone present. For this reason, her workshops are interactive, hands-on experiences in which participants have opportunities to learn from each other as well as the session leader.

Lauren works with a wide variety of groups including seasoned and novice K-12 teachers and administrators, educational foundations, universities, manufacturers, and corporate managers.

Education and Professional Experiences
Lauren has degrees from the University of Louisville and the University of Mississippi, with additional study at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education. She has been an English professor, director of a university writing program, and a workshop facilitator for a variety of audiences.
Awards and Honors
Lauren has won awards for her outstanding contribution in grants and research and as a teaching and learning Faculty Fellow. Additionally, she has written grants for literacy education and teaching writing as reflective practice.
