Education and Professional Experiences
Deborah has degrees in composition/pedagogy, curriculum and instruction, and English. She taught high school English before coming to Brigham Young University and is now an associate professor in the English department. She recently won an outstanding teaching award from BYU.
ReadWriteThink.org Lesson Plans Developed
Deborah believes students need to be engaged to learn and it is important to use interesting lessons based on sound principles. This is the basis for her interest in writing several lessons for www.Readwritethink.org. Lessons include: "Once Upon a Fairy Tale: Teaching Revision as a Concept," "Teaching Text Patterns for Comparing and Contrasting," and "Letters and Learning Genre."
