NCTE Press Center - Previous Revision

For more than 100 years NCTE has been the home for teachers in all areas of literacy education at all grade levels.

In 2011 NCTE and the Ball Foundation introduced the National Center for Literacy Education to celebrate the work of successful school teams across the country who are achieving remarkable results in advancing literacy learning.

NCTE work together to publish statements on a wide range of issues facing literacy educators today.

NCTE members advocate for literacy education by meeting with local policymakers, providing resources to their colleagues, and speaking out to the media and public. They also travel to Washington, DC, to take part in Literacy Education Advocacy Day to bring literacy education issues and their expertise as educators to policymakers.

Throughout the year NCTE members share ideas and learn from each other at events like these:

The National Council of Teachers of English, with more than 35,000 members and subscribers worldwide, is dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of English and the language arts at all levels of education.
