For more than 100 years NCTE has been the home for teachers in all areas of literacy education at all grade levels. NCTE members reach thousands of students every day in classrooms around the world. NCTE committee members and officers work together to publish statements on a wide range of issues facing literacy educators today.
In 2011 NCTE and the Ball Foundation introduced the National Center for Literacy Education to celebrate the work of successful school teams across the country who are achieving remarkable results in advancing literacy learning.
Each year NCTE members and officers travel to Washington, DC, to take part in Literacy Education Advocacy Day to bring literacy education issues and to share expertise
to , and to share what we learn with education policymakers.
