National Day on Writing
October 20, 2009
Today people write as never before—texting, on blogs, with video cameras and cell phones, and, yes, even with traditional pen and paper. People write at home, at work, inside and out of school.
To recognize and celebrate this writing, NCTE has announced its National Day on Writing, scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2009, and the accompanying National Gallery of Writing, a digital archive of samples that exhibit how and why Americans are writing every day, accessible to all through a free, searchable website.
Hundreds of local galleries have been created, in big cities and small towns, in four-year colleges, K-12 schools, churches, and public libraries.
Contact NCTE today for more information on this national initiative and to locate a spokesperson for your story. See our Writing in the 21st Century page for additional resources.
