Report on Accelerated Curriculum

Submitted On: Sunday, December 22, 2013

Analyst: Melzer, Dan

The Learning Works community college research organization released a report outlining the benefits of an accelerated curriculum in place of traditional "remedial" writing and math courses. The report can be found at

The report, which was written by members of the California Acceleration Project, makes recommendations that will be familiar to those involved in remediation reform: a focus on critical thinking rather than "basic skills," support that is connected to the college curriculum rather than isolated from it, and attention to students' affective needs.
