Legislative Action: Postponement of PARCC. TN Public Chapter 905: Data Accessibility, Transparency and Accountability Act

As of May 21st, with an effective date of July 1, 2014 (http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/Billinfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=HB1549) the Tennessee General Assembly confirmed that the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP), inclusive of achievement, end of course and comprehensive writing assessments, shall be administered in English language arts and math in grades three through eleven (3-11) during the 2014-2015 year.  

 Additionally, prior to the 2015-2016 school year the department of education is directed to issue a request for proposals, and through competitive bidding, contract with one or more entities to provide assessments in English language arts and math, which shall be aligned to state standards and fully implemented during 2015-2016 school year.  These tests will be field tested prior to 2015-2016 and will replace the existing assessments in the applicable subject areas.
