Catching Up on College Journals
from NCTE INBOX 4-24

You'll find notable articles for reading and sharing in new issues of these NCTE college-level journals: College English, English Education, and Teaching English in the Two-Year College.

Within the classroom, an affective response to Holocaust literature can be blended with an analytical approach, argues the author of the College English article "'Once there was Elzunia': Approaching Affect in Holocaust Literature" (C). Read more about studies and exhibits on the Holocaust in "Synecdochic Memory at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum" (C).

An intriguing article from English Education, "Deficits, Therapists, and a Desire to Distance: Secondary English Preservice Teachers' Reasoning about Their Future Students” (TE), explores how secondary English preservice teachers reason about their future students and the consequences these systems of reasoning have for their thinking about pedagogy and their roles as teachers.

In the writing project described in "The Wikipedia Project: Changing Students from Consumers to Producers" (C) from Teaching English in the Two-Year College, students contribute their own research to Wikipedia, which not only improves their ability to evaluate online sources, but gives them experience revising their writing for different purposes and audiences.
