Doug Hesse Is Next Vice President of NCTE
College Section member Doug Hesse has been elected Vice President of NCTE. Hesse is professor of English and founding executive director of the Writing Program at the University of Denver. He is coauthor of four books, including the Simon and Schuster Handbook for Writers and, most recently, Creating Nonfiction. Currently coordinator of the Norman Mailer/NCTE National High School and College Writing Awards in Creative Nonfiction, Hesse helped to develop NCTE's National Day on Writing (held on October 20 of each year) and is a former chair of the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC).
Also chosen in recent elections are new Elementary and Middle Level Representatives-at-Large, new trustees of the Research Foundation, a new Associate Chair of TYCA, and new members of nominating and executive committees of NCTE, CEE, and NCTE's Sections.
