INBOX is a weekly e-mail wrap-up of the most important stories in English language arts education, ideas for your classroom, and news from NCTE.

Sent each week to NCTE members (to the email address we have on file for you), this e-newsletter is mailed once a month to nonmembers.

 1½ Weeks Until the Birthday Party
Centennial logoNCTE will celebrate its 100th birthday on Saturday, November 19, 8:30 p.m., during the NCTE Annual Convention in Chicago, where the organization was born. There, on December 2, 1911, approximately 65 men and women met at the Great Northern Hotel, and NCTE was born when 35 attendees became charter members by signing their names in an ordinary ledger book.

NCTE's 100 years of support for literacy teachers and literacy education has spanned the worldwide events of the century.
