“Book Talk.” Voices from the Middle. "Book Talk" is a Department within the journal Voices from the Middle which first appeared in the September 2000 issue. In this column author Teri Lesnese talks about the newest, hot-off-the-presses young adult books that you’ll want to share with your students.
Crowe, Chris. "Young Adult Literature: Young Adult Boundary Breakers and M" English Journal, July 2002. Provides a list of books that "pushed back the boundaries, broke the rules, and refefined" young adult literature.
Donelson, Ken and Alleen Pace Nilsen. "Young Adult Literature: 1997 Honor List: An Unlikely Assortment of Heroes" English Journal, January 1999. Presents the annual "Honor List" of books for young adults for 1997. Offers substantial descriptions of eight books with an unlikely assortment of heroes.
Ruddiman, Joan. "World War II: A Research/Presentation Project for Eighth Graders" English Journal, September 1997. Describes an eighth-grade unit on World War II, in which students work in groups to create a research/presentation project. Discusses making the subject manageable, group responsibilities, evaluation of group presentations, steps leading to the lesson, results, and going beyond the subject . Offers an 87-item list of books and a 39-item list of films on World War II.
