The Middle Level Section of NCTE is the home for middle school and junior high educators, administrators and teacher educators interested in the area of adolescent literacy in the English language arts classroom.
NCTE’s K-12 Principles in Practice imprint connects research with classroom practice offering teachers concrete illustrations of effective classroom practices based in NCTE research briefs and policy statements. Books within the imprint are grouped in strands focusing on adolescent literacy, writing, and assessment.

The Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of NCTE (ALAN) promotes communication and cooperation among all individuals who have a special interest in adolescent literature, presents programs and conferences on this subject, promotes and increases the number of articles and publications devoted to it and integrates the efforts of all those with an interest in this literature.
