2008 Edwin A. Hoey Award Winner
Deborah A. Peters is the eleventh recipient of the NCTE Edwin A. Hoey Award for Outstanding Educator in the English Language Arts.
The Edwin A. Hoey Award, cosponsored by the Weekly Reader Corporation, recognizes exceptional English language arts teachers of grades 5-8 who have demonstrated excellence in teaching English language arts and inspired a spirit of inquiry and a love of learning in their students.
The award will be presented at the Middle Level Luncheon on Friday, November 21, 2008 in San Antonio, Texas during the NCTE Annual Convention.
Deborah has been an educator with the Northwestern Lehigh School District for the past 30 years. She has taught middle level English Language Arts for 19 of those years inspiring her students to think critically, become lifelong readers, writers and communicators.
She has been involved with the Lehigh Valley Writing Project, the PA Council of Teachers of English and Language Arts (PCTELA) and the Pennsylvania Middle School Association (PMSA).
