Outstanding Educator Award

Scholastic Scope MagazineThe language arts magazine Scholastic Scope sponsors this award which recognizes exceptional English language arts teachers of grades 6-8 who have demonstrated excellence in teaching English language arts and inspired a spirit of inquiry and a love of learning in their students.  Deadline May 1. 

 

2013 Award Winner:  Brooke Eisenbach

Brooke Eisenbach

Brooke Eisenbach is the sixteenth recipient of the Edwin A. Hoey Award. Brooke is an eighth-grade English language arts teacher at Tomlin Middle School in Plant City, Florida. She has been a middle school language arts teacher for ten years, teaching language arts, honors, critical thinking, and adolescent literacy courses to a diverse student population.  Read more

 

  

NCTE Richard W. Halle Award

Established in 1996, this award honors a junior high/middle level educator who has worked to promote understanding of the developmental needs and characteristics of young adolescents, especially in the English language arts. 

2013 Award Winner:  Tonya Perry

Tonya PerryMiddle level education has been Tonya’s focus throughout her career as a classroom teacher and university professor. As associate professor at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, she teaches and researches the topics of adolescent reading and writing and curriculum design in an effort to find the best ways to help teachers and students develop their talents and maximize their potential.  Read more
