Sponsored by Weekly Reader, this award recognizes exceptional English language arts teachers of grades 5-8 who have demonstrated excellence in teaching English language arts and inspired a spirit of inquiry and a love of learning in their students.

2010 Hoey Award Winner Announced
Susan Harris is the thirteenth recipient of the 2010 Edwin A. Hoey Award for Outstanding Educator in the English Language Arts. Susan is a 7th and 8th grade teacher of Language Arts at Elizabeth Cobb Middle School in Tallahassee, Florida.

Established in 1996, this award honors a junior high/middle level educator who has worked to promote understanding of the developmental needs and characteristics of young adolescents, especially in the English language arts.

2010 Halle Award Announced
James Johnston is the recipient of the 2010 NCTE Richard W. Halle Award for Outstanding Middle Level Educator. Jim has been involved in English language arts education for over 35 years and has taught grades 5-8 in several Connecticut Public Schools.
