The novel Lessons from a Dead Girl by Jo Knowles (2007) is a compelling story about a young girl’s struggle to overcome an abusive friendship. When Laine was in the fifth grade she became friends with the most popular girl in school, Leah. Soon, Leah began to sexually abuse Laine in her doll closet and accused her of enjoying the intimate contact too much.
