NCTE Resource Kits are one of many professional development opportunities offered by NCTE. Other options include the Consulting Network, Pathways Program and Web Seminars. Based on the NCTE Guideline, Principles of Professional Development, all of these work together to provide the tools, resources, and support that teachers need to make a positive impact on student learning.
NCTE’s Resource Kits are ideal for study groups or professional learning communities wanting to explore important topics in English language arts instruction. Coaches, instructional facilitators, staff developers and other teacher leaders will appreciate the framing text that combines key questions with readings, activities, 
and classroom applications, all based on best practices in adult learning principles. The resources have been hand-selected by NCTE leaders and include journal articles, lesson plans, books, position statements, and more. The organizing materials help teacher leaders form study groups and then guide participants through the learning design. The Resource Kits allow participants to deeply explore, discuss, and investigate a topic to improve their knowledge and instruction and improve student achievement.
