  • Broadening Visions of What Counts: Honoring Home and Community Literacies

Susi Long and Franki Sibberson, coeditors

Abstract: This issue of School Talk explores the strategies used by the other teachers in our students’ lives, those who don’t operate within a classroom setting. One article looks at storytelling as a means of learning in Sunday school, another explores family stories in a Puerto Rican community, and a third discusses the many opportunities Pueblo children have to learn from their entire community. A final article looks at barbershops as a place where African American boys can learn much.
