    Abstract: This article looks at how the authors constructed a PD experience using the connected learning framework in partnership with an eighth grade ELA teacher in a rural junior/senior high school. In addition to describing the structure of the PD, the authors touch upon how this approach can be characterized in the following ways: noticing students, technology as a resource, teacher driven, peer-supported curriculum design

  • Writing across the Grades

    Brian Kissell with Jill Holshouser, Diana Hosse, Ann Jenkins, Mary Mayo, Taisia Mills, and Dana Naporkowski

    Abstract: The authors describe how a group of teachers gathered together for a weekly professional development experience driven by the teachers themselves as they pursued inquiries about writing development and instruction; describe their weekly professional development routine; offer insights about experiences learning from one another; and examine how this experience changed them as teachers. By describing this unique teacher-researcher partnership, they show how teachers’ professional development can be an organic, dynamic, and authentic learning experience.

  • Google Hangouts Help Teachers #StayinTeaching

    Abstract: This article describes use of online video conferencing as a tool for professional networking and learning that is both personal and personalized. The authors share our experience using Google Hangouts to support early-career teachers, describing how more veteran teachers have benefitted as well. The article provides specific information that teachers and teacher leaders can readily apply.
