Issue Theme: Culturally Relevant Pedagogy
-
English Leadership Quarterly, Volume 35, Number 3, February 2013
Guest Editor: Judson Laughter
Abstract:
Culturally Relevant Pedagogy (CRP) may be “just good teaching” (as Gloria Ladson-Billings once said), but to date, it is not yet the norm. Based on the tenets of developing students academically, nurturing cultural competence, and developing a sociopolitical consciousness, CRP has provided a powerful framework for examining teachers and students in multiple and diverse contexts. This issue offers a sampling of how English educators are applying CRP to a broad spectrum of work and research.
