PROJECT MANAGER
The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) has a newly created opportunity for a motivated individual with proven administrative and project management skills. The Council will be launching a new National Center for Literacy Education (NCLE) this fall, and seeks a Project Manager to work with the NCTE Executive Director and the NCLE project team in administering it. The person in this role will design and carry out administrative processes and workflows vital to the success of NCLE. They will maintain contact with diverse organizations, school leaders, and scholars who function as NCLE stakeholders and will help manage the exchange of information and insights generated through the digital Literacy in Learning service and through an annual summit meeting on literacy learning. They will also help administer project funding, proposal generation, and grant prospecting.
The qualified applicant will:
- possess a bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a field relating to education, business, or non-profit management;
- have gained experience working in an executive, administrative, or planning role with an education or non-profit organization or a business that serves educators;
- possess excellent analytical and administrative skills and will have established systems for supporting multi-partner initiatives or enterprises;
- have the ability to travel.

VISITING SPECIALIST FOR PROFESSIONAL LEARNING IN LITERACY EDUCATION
The National Council of Teachers of English, headquartered in Urbana, IL, has an exciting new opportunity for an education professional well versed in literacy education. This newly created position will play a critical role in linking schools to professional development programming that advance student learning. The position will also collaborate frequently with NCTE staff, school, district, and state leaders to design, recommend, or provide appropriate learning experiences for literacy educators.
Qualified applicants will possess an advanced degree and a minimum of three years recent English language arts teaching experience. Additional requirements include:
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills
- Experience analyzing literacy studies and education research
- Effective presentation skills
- Deep knowledge of professional development trends
- Experience with education policy and school administration practices
