We are seeking applicants for the following positions:

VISITING SPECIALIST FOR PROFESSIONAL LEARNING IN LITERACY EDUCATION
The National Council of Teachers of English, headquartered in Urbana, IL, has an exciting new opportunity for an education professional well versed in literacy education.  This newly created position will play a critical role in linking schools to professional development programming that advance student learning.  The position will also collaborate frequently with NCTE staff, school, district, and state leaders to design, recommend, or provide appropriate learning experiences for literacy educators.

Qualified applicants will possess an advanced degree and a minimum of three years recent English language arts teaching experience.  Additional requirements include:
•  Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills
•  Experience analyzing literacy studies and education research
•  Effective presentation skills
•  Deep knowledge of professional development trends
•  Experience with education policy and school administration practices

GRAPHIC DESIGN SPECIALIST
The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), a professional organization for English educators, is seeking a qualified individual for the part-time position of Graphic Design Specialist.  This position is responsible for conceptualizing and creating layouts and designs for a variety of computer, web, and/or multimedia graphics and/or content materials to support program and promotional needs.

The qualified individual will possess a degree in Graphic Design or related field; experience in planning, developing, and designing materials for use with diverse audiences; ability to interpret creative requirements and offer multiple design solutions; and experience with Adobe Creative Suite Software.

READWRITETHINK.ORG/NCTE MARKETING OPPORTUNITY
The National Council of Teachers of English has an exciting opportunity for an experienced marketing professional!  We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill the newly created Marketing/Public Relations position.  The position will include marketing responsibilities for READWRITETHINK.ORG (RWT) and social media marketing responsibilities for The National Council of Teachers of English.  This grant funded position will develop and initiate marketing strategy for the online educational resource, READWRITETHINK.ORG that reached more than 13 million teachers and learners in 2010.  Responsibilities will include: creating web-based and print promotional material to increase awareness of RWT; creating copy for trade journals and meetings; as well as coordinating messages through various social media outlets. Successful applicant will have strong analytical abilities and solid marketing strategies with examples of proven results.
