Reports from the 2007 CEE Summit

The Second CEE Leadership and Policy Summit was held June 1-3, 2007 at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois.  Ninety CEE members attended and seven participated electronically.  Attendees included graduate students, early-career faculty members, established scholars, and English educators from the United Kingdom.  Conference chairs were Dawn Abt-Perkins and Don Zancanella.  As at the First CEE Summit, participants worked in thematic strands with the goal of producing a statement about their theme.

In addition to the work on the thematic strands, large-group meetings were held during which invited panelists spoke on core issues related to CEE and English education.  Much of the large-group discussion focused on how CEE could become more capable of engaging in advocacy related to educational policy and politics.

Reports from the summit strand groups are available below.  These reports should be viewed as working papers or "think pieces," intended to promote discussion rather than as official statements of CEE policy.  In some cases, the link may connect directly to the strand's wikispace.
