Commission on Creating and Sustaining NCTE Student Affiliates

Chair: Rebecca Kaminski, Clemson University, South Carolina                
Liaison: Ernest Morrell, University of California Los Angeles

Mission:
1)  To encourage the development of NCTE Student Affiliate Sites
2)  To strengthen existing NCTE Student Affiliate Sites by
        a)  providing professional development and support for faculty sponsors of
             NCTE Student Affiliates (NCTE SA)
        b)  networking across NCTE SA sites
        c)  networking with state NCTE affiliates
        d)  providing additional professional development opportunities for student
             members of NCTE Student Affiliates

Current Projects:
1) This commission would like to establish an email listserv of student affiliate leaders and members to ensure communication beyond the annual convention and as a way to invite members to attend the events at the annual convention.
2) The group would also like to plan student events at the next convention. Ideas discussed were a welcoming social and discounted student accommodations.
