This award is given to encourage English Language teacher development, consistent with the major goal of CEE, by promoting reflective inquiry in which teachers raise questions about teaching and learning in their own teaching/learning settings.
The Cultural Diversity Grant provides $500 for expenses for a teacher or teacher educator from a historically underrepresented group to travel to and present his or her winning proposal at the NCTE Annual Convention.
NCTE’s Conference on English Education, in conjunction with the National Writing Project, offers this grant to support teacher research projects inspired by the scholarship of James Moffett. Each proposed project must display an explicit connection to the work of James Moffett and should both enhance the applicant’s teaching by serving as a source of professional development and be of interest and value to other educators.
This award for exemplary scholarship is given to the author of an article published in English Education during each calendar year. The award is given in honor of Janet Emig, Professor Emeritus of English Education at Rutgers University, for her contribution to the field of English Education.
This award is given to recognize published research that investigates English/Language Arts teacher development at any educational level, of any scope and in any setting. The Award was established in 1988 in honor of the late Richard Meade of the University of Virginia for his contributions to research in the teaching of composition and in teacher preparation.
