Liaison Officers of NCTE
Duties of an Affiliate Liaison Officer:
-
is appointed by the affiliate -- for continuity, NCTE recommends at least a three-year term of office;

is a member of NCTE;
-
is a member of the affiliate governing board;
-
reports to NCTE Headquarters affiliate activities and concerns, including a.) important projects, b.) a calendar of affiliate events, c.)significant developments or trends in the affiliate's gerographical area;

reports significant national developments and concerns through reports to the affiliate governing board as well as full membership;

arranges for securing NCTE services for the affiliate

promotes NCTE conferences and programs such as Achievement Awards in Writing, Promising Young Writers Program, Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines, NCTE Annual Convention, Conference on College Composition and Communication, and Professional Development Services Institutes;

reminds affiliate presidents, secretaries, and treasurers of obligations to the council; for example: reporting to Headquarters immediately the names of newly elected officers, checking that all elected or appointed members of the affiliate executive board are NCTE members in good standing, assuring that copies of affiliate publications are forwarded to NCTE Headquarters, and seeing that affiliate dues are paid prior to the NCTE Annual Convention by July 15.
