The schedule for this meeting is Friday, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (with an optional night out to downtown Chicago); and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Why should our affiliate attend this meeting? Because these leadership meetings only happen every two years, it's important that your affiliate be represented. The concerns we work on at them tie directly to your affiliate's business, and they provide the opportunity to train in-coming leadership now for the most pay-off later. Over the years, the meeting has proved most valuable for new affiliate leaders.
Who should attend the meeting? There is a policy that governs who should represent each affiliate: Affiliate Leadership Meeting Attendee Policy
In addition, please consider which of your affiliate's leaders might benefit the most from this meeting as well as whose attendance at the meeting will most benefit your affiliate (e.g., representatives from groups currently underrepresented in your affiliate such as persons of color and new teachers might be the perfect people to work with other affiliate leaders at the meeting to develop membership recruitment and retainment plans to bring members from their groups into your affiliate).
What is the fee for attending? NCTE and the participating affiliates share the cost of the meeting as is outlined in the Affiliate Leadership Meeting Reimbursement Policy.
What should affiliate representatives bring with them? Affiliate representatives are asked to bring affiliate ideas to share and materials to display.
