Suggestions

• Present the winner with a certificate at a special event just for that purpose or at a session or gathering at your conference.
• Send a press release about the winner to your local newspaper and the winner's local newspaper and to the winner's school and district.
• List the winner and information about the program and the winner in your newsletter. Do a feature article. Use a photograph. Don't forget to send two copies of the article to the winner.
• Invite the winner to work with you in their area of expertise.
• In the case of writing contests, honor the student and the student's teacher. Invite the parents and the building principals. Print the student's writing in your newsletter or journal or in a special edition journal of student writing.
• Ask the winner to present a session at your conference.
• Ask the winner to write an article for your newsletter or journal.
• Ask the winner to serve as a judge for future competitions.
