NCTE Affiliate Membership Recruitment Awards
Purpose: To recognize affiliates that have substantially increased their memberships or that have recruited new members for NCTE.
Who Can Participate: All state, provincial, regional, and local affiliates.
Number of Awards: Up to three awards are given in each of two different categories. The categories are Largest Percentage of Growth in State, Provincial, or Regional Affiliates and Largest Percentage of Growth in Local Affiliates;
Award Specifics: This award will be a certificate presented to each winning affiliate.
Award Criteria: In January of each year, all state, provincial, regional, national, and local affiliates receive a memo requesting them to submit their membership lists (in alphabetical order including names and addresses) to NCTE by April 1. By submitting their membership lists, affiliates fulfill one of the requirements of affiliation with the Council. The affiliate membership lists submitted each spring are used to determine the winners of the affiliate awards for the largest percentage of membership growth. To be eligible for the award, affiliates must have submitted a membership list in the year of the award as well as in the year prior to the award.
DEADLINES: Each year affiliate membership lists, in alphabetical order including names and addresses, are requested to be submitted by APRIL 1 to the NCTE Division Director of Communications and Affiliate Services, 1111 W. Kenyon Rd., Urbana, IL 61801. These lists are processed to determine how many directors each affiliate has on the NCTE Board of Directors (determined by the number of joint affiliate and NCTE members). The time period for consideration for the award for new NCTE members recruited by affiliates is July 1 of the previous year through June 30 of the current year. The award-winning affiliates will be notified in late summer so that they may have a representative present to receive the award at the Affiliate Breakfast at the NCTE Annual Convention. The affiliate representative is expected to purchase a breakfast ticket with conference preregistration.
Administration: The NCTE Division Director of Communications and Affiliate Services will administer this award. Winners are determined statistically according to the lists affiliates have submitted.
Affiliates whose memberships have increased are asked to write articles for Council-Grams. Many do and these articles are featured in the publication and on the affiliate website. |
