Closing the Achievement Gap - Previous Revision

(Kent, not sure how you want to roll these 3 out for public view)

Motion 2007:56
Over the next three years, visible steps should be taken to make it easier for users of NCTE services to identify and use Council resources that serve underachieving students through every channel available to the Council — print publications, meetings, online/digital, and other emerging technologies. Success will be measured by yearly online survey questions of NCTE members beginning in 2008 that ask them to rate how easy it is to access and use the many current resources available to teachers on this topic with the goal of reaching a 90% “very easy” rate by the third year.

Motion 2007:57
Further, yearly online survey questions of NCTE members for the next three years will ask them to rate how NCTE resources of all types have increased their knowledge of strategies that enhance the literacy abilities of under- achieving students.  On the basis of a current survey ascertaining NCTE members’ satisfaction with the utility of NCTE resources focused on improving teachers’ knowledge and strategies in assisting students to learn and achieve at their highest levels, rates of satisfaction will will increase by 20% within three years.

Finally, over the next five years, NCTE will be recognized as a “go-to” source for those who work to close the gap between underachieving students’ performance and potential.  This will be measured by the number of NCTE website resources that are regularly accessed by NCTE members and non-NCTE members searching for information about supporting underachieving students.
