The Elementary Section of NCTE represents a diverse group of teachers, literacy coaches, reading and special education interventionists, teacher educators, and school administrators interested in literacy development and in literacy teaching at the elementary school level. Our primary task is to connect and support teachers as they work closely with students, administrators, and families to develop and promote lifelong literacy learning. We cordially welcome all educators interested in reading, writing and the language arts.
WLU Program Proposals Accepted
The Whole Language Umbrella of NCTE (WLU) invites you to submit a proposal for the 2012 Literacies for All Summer Institute, "Reclaiming Joy in Teaching, Learning, and Research." Plan now to join us July 19-21 in St. Louis, Missouri.
This event is held in the month of February with the goal to make the celebration of African American literacy a traditional part of Black History Month activities. Host a Read-In in your school, church, community, or place of business---anywhere you can sit and read a book!. Learn more here.
The new editorial team of Peggy Albers, Caitlin Dooley, Amy Seely Flint, Teri Holbrook, and Laura May, give NCTE members a new feature of podcasts by some of the issue's authors. Check out LA today!
