Katherine Paterson is the recipient of the 2006 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award and the 1998 Hans Christian Andersen Author Award, and a two-time Newbery Medal winner and National Book Award winner. She lives in Barre, Vermont, with her husband, John, and is the mother of four children and the grandmother of seven.
