Gail Langer Karwoski - Previous Revision

Gail Langer Karwoski writes books for young readers. She loves to probe American history in search of exciting stories for kids in grades 4-8. Her three historical novels have been selected for many state award lists: Quake, Disaster in San Francisco, 1906!; Seaman, the Dog Who Explored the West with Lewis and Clark; Surviving Jamestown, the Adventures of Young Sam Collier. She has also written two award-winning nonfiction narratives: Miracle, the True Story of the Wreck of the Sea Venture won the Beacon of Freedom Award, and Tsunami, the True Story of an April Fool's Day Disaster was a National Council of the Social Studies Notable Book.
 
For younger readers (and listeners), she has written two soothing bedtime stories: Water Beds, Sleeping in the Ocean and River Beds, Sleeping in the World's Rivers. Her picture book, Julie the Rockhound, inspires kids to hunt for earth's mineral treasures.
 
Karwoski is a former teacher who lives in Georgia. She and her husband have raised two wonderful daughters and many bossy cats.
