National Day on Writing - Previous Revision

CELEBRATE NCTE's Fourth Annual
National Day on Writing!

For this year’s theme--What I Write--NCTE joins the National Writing Project, The New York Times Learning Network, and others to call for your compositions in all forms.

On October 19-20, tweet out your compositions of all sorts and post them to Twitter using the hashtag #whatIwrite and, if space allows, #dayonwriting. Our goals are to share writings publicly while we get #whatIwrite as a trending topic on Twitter this year just as #WhyIWrite was a trending topic next year.

U.S. Senate Resolution 565 declares October 20, 2012, as the National Day on Writing but you'll want to celebrate when it's convenient for you.

As you think about celebrations for this year, read all about celebrations that took place across the country in honor of the 2011 National Day on Writing!

Since the National Gallery of Writing opened on October 20, 2009, more than 3,300 galleries were created and nearly 33,000 writing contributions were submitted.  While the Gallery is now closed for submissions, as a searchable archive, it's a great resource for you to use when involving others in writing..
