Laurie Henry

Laurie HenryAs a former middle school teacher and current university faculty member, Laurie maintains her connection to teachers in the classroom and works hard not to lose site of the realities of teaching and learning in a day-to-day basis. She assists preservice and in-service teachers in understanding the value of teaching reading and writing across the curriculum as an integrated approach and not as a separate subject that occurs in isolation away from other content area classes. She has been a member of NCTE for a number of years and served as a member of the NCTE Nominating Committee, and more recently as a content developer for the 21st Century Literacies professional development course Pathways for 21st Century Literacies.
